Q. Will WSIP reopen in a new department, college, or location?

A. There are no current plans for WSIP to reopen. It will be officially closed as of October 13, 2025. 

Q. Will the website close? 

A. The WSIP website and YouTube channel will remain open for some time. You can still access our Tips sheets and videos. If you participated in the Graduate Writing Institute or Online Writing Room, those community d2l pages will also remain accessible to you. 

Q. Will WSIP staff be tutoring elsewhere on campus? 

A. Please contact individual staff members to learn about their future plans or visit our About page. 

Q. Where can U of A students go for writing tutoring? 

A. U of A undergraduate students can go to the Writing Center at the Think Tank. U of A graduate students can also go there, or to the Graduate Writing Lab at the Graduate Center. There are also satellite tutoring services at different locations. 

Q. Will another unit offer similar workshops for U of A students? 

A. The Writing Center, Graduate Writing Lab, and LifeLab may offer related workshops. 

Q. Where can non-U of A students go for writing support? 

A. Check our Resources page for information about programs that may be able to provide the service you need.
